Yarmouth Boat Yard Crew Spotlight: Michael Sullivan

Mike grew up in south Boston and attended UMass Amherst. After college Mike joined the Coast Guard and began his training as a machinery technician and engineer, attended school in Virginia and was later stationed in Portland and Rockland.

"The Coast Guard was a great experience. I traveled from one end of the Maine coast to the other and navigated every river in between," said Michael. "I've seen every lighthouse in Maine. I feel fortunate because most people will never got a chance enjoy those type of experiences."

Michael Sullivan has a wealth of experience servicing a variety of boat makes and models.

After four years in the Coast Guard Michael began working at Detroit Diesel where he was responsible for overhauling and trouble-shooting diesel engines on large fishing vessels and yachts. Mike went on to work for CB Kenworth in Scarborough. Later, Mike worked at Banforth Marine for five years serving as a mechanic specializing in outboard engines.

Michael began his tenure with Yarmouth Boat Yard in 2009 as a certified technician and has become an integral part of the team.

"It's a great feeling to be part of an organization that is evolving and changing. New boat lines, a new storage and service center, the acquisition of Moose Landing Marina are all examples of the growth and advances we are making at Yarmouth Boat Yard," said Mike. "I also love being on the river and the crew and customers here are great people."

In his spare time good Mike enjoys spending times outdoors with his wife and 9 year old son. Hiking, running and reading historical English fiction are also his favorite pastimes. In March, Michael and his wife celebrated the birth of their new son Keilen.
